We’re sad to share that our Solo Horn player, Gillian Kirkby, will be leaving Uppermill Band at the end of June. Gillian has been a valued member of the band for many years, serving as both a talented musician and a fantastic ambassador. She played a key role in guiding the band through countless highs and through the challenges of Covid, when her dedication helped keep the music alive at Uppermill. We'll be sharing more about Gillian’s contribution as she hands over the reins to her successor.

 

We’re thrilled to announce that Neil Fielding, our current Flugel player (and Horn player at heart!), will be moving to the solo horn seat. Neil has been a brilliant asset on Flugel, delivering memorable performances including his stunning cadenza at the Rochdale Contest, helping us secure 1st place! 

 

And now for some exciting news — we’re absolutely delighted to welcome Joanne Leach to Uppermill Band as our new Flugel Horn player! Joanne is a great musician with top-level experience, and we’re so excited to have her join the team. She’ll be performing with us for Wallace & Gromit, and will officially take on the Flugel seat from the beginning of July. Welcome to Team Uppermill!
